Sometimes life can become difficult to manage on your own. Stress, relationships, grief, anxiety, pressure at work or experiences from the past can all affect how you feel and how you cope day to day.
Counselling gives you a confidential, non-judgemental space to talk openly with a qualified professional and explore what is happening for you at your own pace.
Onward Shift works with counsellors using different therapeutic approaches, allowing you to find someone whose experience and way of working feel right for you. Whether something has been building for a long time or you simply feel that talking to someone could help, counselling gives you somewhere to start.
Integrative counselling brings together elements from different therapeutic approaches, allowing the counsellor to adapt the way they work around the individual. Rather than following one fixed method, sessions can draw on different ideas and techniques.
Person-centred counselling gives you space to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences without judgement. The counsellor works alongside you rather than telling you what to do, helping you develop a deeper understanding of yourself and find your own way forward.
Relationship difficulties can affect many areas of life and mental health. Our counsellors can provide a confidential, non-judgemental space to explore issues such as communication, conflict, separation, trust, loneliness and changes within relationships.

That’s completely okay. The relationship you have with your coach or counsellor matters, and sometimes the first person you speak to won’t feel like the right fit.
If that happens, let us know and we’ll help you explore another provider.
We keep pricing simple and transparent.
Every session will be different depending on whether you choose coaching or counselling and the provider you work with.
You can expect a confidential, non-judgemental space where you have time to talk openly about what is going on for you. A coach may focus more on goals, change and practical next steps, while counselling may give you space to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences in greater depth.
Your provider will work at a pace that feels appropriate for you.
Sessions usually last 50–60 minutes and can be:
Coaching is generally more focused on where you are now, where you would like to get to and the changes you want to make. Counselling provides space to explore emotions, experiences and difficulties in greater depth.
There is no fixed script. Your sessions should develop around what you need and what you feel comfortable discussing.
