1. About this policy
This policy explains how Onward Shift Limited uses cookies and similar technologies on onwardshift.com. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy.
Simply continuing to use our Website does not mean that you consent to optional technologies.
Section 12 lists the visitor-facing services and Website technologies used on our Website. It does not list storage used only in the private WordPress administration area, because that storage is not placed on ordinary visitors’ devices.

3. What these technologies are
Cookies are small files placed on your device when you visit a website. We may also use local storage, session storage, scripts, tags and similar tools. In this policy, we call all of these Website technologies.
Some are provided by Onward Shift. Others are provided by companies whose services appear on our Website.
4. When we ask for consent
UK law normally requires consent before information is stored on or read from your device. Consent is not required where a narrow legal exception applies, such as technology that is strictly necessary to provide the Website or a feature you request. Limited statistical or appearance and functionality technologies may also operate without consent only where the legal conditions are met and you are given a simple way to object.
We currently use Google Analytics and optional embedded media only after consent. Advertising technologies, if introduced, will also require consent.
A legal exception under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations is not the same as relying on legitimate interests under data-protection law. We assess the rules separately.
5. Types of technology we use
5.1 Necessary
These technologies help the Website work, remain secure, load correctly and remember your consent choices. They cannot normally be switched off through the consent banner.
5.2 Preferences
These technologies remember display or functionality choices. They may operate without consent only where they meet a legal appearance or functionality exception and we provide a simple, free way to object. Otherwise they require consent.
5.3 Analytics
Analytics technologies help us understand how people use the Website and improve its performance. We use Google Analytics only after consent. We do not use Analytics information for behavioural advertising or to make decisions about individual visitors.
5.4 Advertising and optional content
Advertising, social-media and optional embedded-content technologies require consent.
6. Your choices
Our consent banner allows you to:
- accept optional technologies;
- reject optional technologies; or
- choose individual categories.
Optional categories are not selected in advance. Closing the banner leaves optional technologies switched off.
You can change your choice at any time through the Manage Consent link on the Website. Withdrawing consent stops future use of the affected technologies. You may also clear existing cookies through your browser.
Rejecting optional technologies will not prevent normal use of the Website, although some videos, social-media content or other optional features may be unavailable.
7. Analytics
Where you consent, Google Analytics may collect information about the pages you view, your approximate location, your device and browser, how you reached the Website and how you interact with it.
Google Analytics uses this information to produce website-usage reports. It remains disabled if you reject analytics, and withdrawing consent stops future analytics collection from your device.
8. Forms and security
We use services including WPForms, CleanTalk Spam Protect and Google reCAPTCHA to operate forms and protect the Website from spam, misuse and automated submissions.
These services may process technical information such as your IP address, browser details, device information and interactions with a form. They operate without consent only where needed to provide or protect a form you requested. Any wider use requires consent.
Information submitted through a form is handled under our Privacy Policy.
9. Videos and social media
The Website may contain optional content from YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn and TikTok. Embedded content remains blocked until you consent. If you allow it, the provider may place or read information on your device.
An ordinary link to another website does not activate that provider’s technologies on the Onward Shift Website. Once you follow the link, the other website’s privacy and cookie rules apply.
10. Third-party providers
Third-party providers may receive technical information when their service is used. They may act as our service provider or as a separate organisation responsible for its own processing.
Some providers operate outside the United Kingdom. Our Privacy Policy explains how we protect personal information transferred internationally.
We do not sell information collected through Website technologies.
11. Consent records
We use Complianz to display the consent banner and remember your choices. Your consent choice is normally remembered for up to 12 months. We may keep limited evidence of consent or withdrawal for up to 6 years where this is reasonably needed to demonstrate compliance or deal with a complaint or legal claim.
12. Website technology schedule
This schedule identifies the services and types of Website technology currently used. It gives the service or technology name rather than every internal identifier. One service can use several identifiers, and those identifiers can change during routine software or security updates.
Services used only inside the private WordPress administration area are not part of this public schedule. The periods below describe how long information may remain on your device. You can remove it earlier through your browser.

WordPress, Elementor, LiteSpeed and Complianz support page display, caching, Website operation and consent management. These are mainly first-party technologies. They are used without consent where needed to operate the Website and normally last for the browser session or up to 12 months.
12.2 Forms and security
WPForms, CleanTalk Spam Protect and Google reCAPTCHA support forms, prevent spam and protect the Website. They use a mixture of first-party and third-party technology.
Most form and security storage lasts for the browser session, up to 24 months, or until browser storage is cleared. WPForms uses a visitor identifier that may remain for up to 11 years. It is not used for advertising.
12.3 Analytics
Google Analytics helps us measure Website use and performance. It uses first-party identifiers and sends analytics information to Google. It operates only after analytics consent. Analytics cookies may remain for up to 24 months.
12.4 Videos and social media
YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn and TikTok may be used for optional embedded content. These third-party services operate only after consent. Their storage may last for the browser session or up to 24 months.
12.5 Fonts
Google Fonts may be used to display typefaces. Where font files are loaded from Google, Google may receive technical connection information. Browser-cached font files remain until the cache expires or is cleared.
13. Personal information
Some Website technologies process information that can identify or distinguish a device or visitor. This may include IP addresses, device or browser identifiers, Website activity, referral information and consent choices.

14. Retention
We keep Website technologies only for as long as needed for their stated purpose. The periods in Section 12 describe storage on your device. Information held in our systems or a provider’s systems is retained under our Privacy Policy and the provider’s applicable retention settings.

We do not use Website technologies to profile children or target them with advertising.
16. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our Website, providers or legal obligations change. The latest version will appear on this page with an updated date. If a change affects consent, we will ask you to choose again.
