Relationship Counsellor

Lisa Ward

I understand how much courage it can take to make those first steps towards seeking help when life feels overwhelming. Therapy for some people can be life changing and to be part of their journey is extremely rewarding.

I work from a person-centred base and integrate other models of therapy into my practice if this is helpful for the client. Sessions are tailored to each individual’s needs, and the sessions are led by the client and at their pace.

I offer a safe and confidential space for you to explore and try to make sense of your thoughts and feelings and provide a non-judgmental, warm, and caring environment for you to try to find a way forward. I will show you value and acceptance, along with honesty and empathy and have your best interests at heart by working professionally and ethically.

I’ve always had an interest in health, wellbeing and helping others, which Is what lead me on the path to become a therapist. I love learning about how our minds work and I am passionate about helping others with their mental health issues. I have a particular interest in stress and sleep issues and the impact that can have on our physical and mental health. I am passionate about working within mental health, and it would be a privilege to share your journey with you.

How does counselling support your mental health?

I feel that counselling plays a vital role in supporting your mental health by providing you with a safe and confidential space to explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences.

Through regular sessions, I support you to gain self-awareness, identify, and try to understand the root causes of your struggles and develop effective coping strategies. I encourage self-reflection and self-care to help empower you to make positive changes, enhance your resilience, and to manage and understand your emotions. I provide you with support while you try to understand what might be going on for you and try to find a way forward.

Overall, counselling serves as a valuable resource for individuals seeking emotional support, personal growth, and the restoration of mental well-being.

Relationships

Navigating relationships can be tricky, but one of the most important relationships you will have is with yourself. How we speak to ourselves and how you treat yourself can have a direct impact on your self-esteem and confident therefore, learning to have a little more compassion for yourself and to be patient with yourself may help you feel more in control of your life. Learning to accept those different parts of yourself, and understand yourself well enough, may help you to know what it is that you need to heal and start to feel better.  As a therapist, I can support you to navigate a healthier version of you, find mental clarity and empower yourself to feel better in your mental health and overall well-being.
