As a certified Life Coach, CBT Coach and Mental Health Advocate, I’ve made it my life’s mission to transform workplace safety and mental health.
For twenty years I worked in the construction industry.
Following a life changing accident at work, I discovered first hand how mental health impacts not just individuals, but entire organisations and families.
Today, I help organisations across the UK build resilient, high performing teams through mental health and safety awareness, using practical wellbeing strategies that have helped me and other people not just get over their struggles but get to the peak of their productivity and enjoy better relationships with friends and family.
Sometimes you come across a story so raw, so profoundly real, it shakes you to your core. That’s exactly what happened when I sat down with Steven Kirby. This is not your typical podcast it’s a deep dive into the struggles, triumphs and life altering moments of one man who has been through more than most of us can imagine.
There were moments of joy and laughter, followed by waves of sadness and disbelief. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any worse, another twist would leave me speechless. Yet, through it all, Steve’s resilience and sheer determination to keep moving forward left me in awe.
We also explore the unique challenges of the construction industry a field where long hours, physical exhaustion and high pressure environments take a toll on workers mental and emotional well-being.
I would highly recommend Steven as a mental health and well being speaker. He shares a traumatic but interesting story which engages the workforce. He shares the lessons learnt and control measures that could have prevented his accident which will help stop an accident of this type happening again. We looking forward to welcoming Steven back to support us on our health and safety culture module at site level.
Steve has supported the project since the start of 2021 on a monthly basis by sharing his story to our staff and delivery teams onsite. A great person to have on your project to support your project teams and staff! Thanks for your continued support!
Steven was very engaging and the operatives on site were fully engrossed with his talk. Talking openly about his own struggles with his mental health really resonated with the teams with some of them making contact and thanking Steven for helping them open up about their own issues. We are now in a position to help those individuals seek the attention they require which is great.
Steven is passionate about his work and this comes across in his talk which is open and honest.
The construction industry is renowned for its demanding work environments, tight deadlines and physically strenuous tasks. While these challenges are often seen as part of the job, there is one area that is often overlooked: mental health. Mental health issues in construction have historically been under reported and under appreciated but the tide is changing. […]
