I’m someone who has been on a journey (haven’t we all) and now use those valuable life lessons to help others navigate their best route forward. Having experienced an almost transformational process, I am passionate to share what I’ve discovered.
With over 20 years’ experience as an HR Manager, working for companies of various shapes and sizes, expanding my knowledge and qualifications to become a Health & Wellbeing Coach was the perfect accompaniment to my already ‘people focused’ career.
My awakening happened after having my second son, I’d reached an all-time high on the scales and felt sluggish and unhealthy. Not the energetic Mum of 2 that I’d envisaged. Having always been a bit of a perfectionist, losing control of my weight took its toll on my body and my mind. I knew I needed to ‘feel better’ but I wasn’t sure how and I was confident I couldn’t do it on my own. It was then that I met an incredible coach who undoubtedly changed my life for the better…
I’m a naturally driven person and when I commit to something, I commit wholeheartedly. Being passionate about what I do gives me the enthusiasm and energy to reach my goals, but I have now learnt the true value of ‘support’ since working with my coach. That personalised 1:1 education and encouragement enabled me to go beyond the goals that I’d set myself, pushing past my own limitations to accomplishments that I’d never imagined were possible.
Education is key when it comes to health and wellbeing – shooting in the dark is not the way forward. Learning to understand what your body needs and what it’s capable of doing opens up a raft of possibilities.
My journey uncovered a love of CrossFit and Olympic Lifting, leading to me achieving a qualification as a Nutrition Coach and Personal Trainer, further expanding my knowledge of what’s best for our bodies. I learnt to eat to perform, appreciating the importance of nutrition, sleep, movement and wellbeing.
I first met Jen when I was referred to participate on a pre diabetes course.
The course took place during the pandemic so the sessions took place on line.
The format was not ideal but Jen’s enthusiasm and obvious passion for helping people to improve their lifestyle shone through. Personally it gave me a great deal of encouragement to learn from Jen about how relatively small changes to my habits and removal of certain misconceptions could be beneficial.
When the course ended I wanted to continue with some form of coaching so that the gains I had made did not fall away. I now meet with Jen on a fortnightly basis for training and lifestyle coaching which serves as a great way to keep focussed on the importance of movement and diet. With Jen’s guidance I have maintained the improvements in my diet, become physically stronger and fitter and happier in my own skin. Most of all Jen has made taking the important steps to a better lifestyle fun and enjoyable and I heartily recommend her to anyone who is interested in finding positive ways to an improved approach to diet and movement.
